Planes Reintroduced in Fortnite with New Limited Time Mode

Fortnite’s X-4 Stormwing Planes may make a return to the game, but only in a Limited Time Mode.

Data miners have discovered evidence of a “PlaneLTM” hidden in the Fortnite v8.30 update files. Unfortunately, this leak doesn’t provide any specific details about when or how this game mode will be implemented. It also doesn’t confirm if the X-4 Stormwing will be the plane to make a comeback, or if there will be a new plane altogether. Nonetheless, the leak suggests that flying with planes will soon be possible again.

This move from Epic is reminiscent of their decision to reintroduce the controversial Infinity Blade, which was recently added back to the Limited Time Modes rotation after being vaulted for a lengthy period. It took several months for the item to return after it had caused chaos in both casual and competitive matches during season seven.

Planes caused controversy last season because they were difficult to counter. Players could hop on a plane, soar high in the sky, and rarely face any opponents. They would remain on the plane until late in the game without ever being challenged. Players who disembarked from planes during gunfights often took advantage of weakened enemies to secure victory. The X-4 Stormwing planes were vaulted at the beginning of season eight, two months ago.

Epic has yet to confirm the introduction of the Plane LTM, leaving a chance that it may never become a part of the game. Nevertheless, the leaked information gives hope to players eager to fly on X-4 Stormwings once again.
