One Year Ago Today: Ninja and Drake Collaborated in Fortnite Live Stream

One Year Ago, Ninja and Drake’s Epic Fortnite Stream Dominated Twitch

Exactly one year ago today, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins set a Twitch record with his legendary Fortnite stream featuring rapper Drake. The stream attracted a staggering 628,000 concurrent viewers, smashing the platform’s previous record.

Ninja and Drake kicked off their gaming session on March 14, 2018, playing through the night until the Fortnite servers went down for the v3.3 update. The stream became even more iconic as celebrities such as Travis Scott and NFL player JuJu Smith-Schuster joined in, making it one of the most successful broadcasts in Ninja’s streaming career.

This event propelled Ninja into the mainstream media spotlight. While already a gaming sensation with a large following on Twitch, his stream with Drake led to invitations to TV shows like The Ellen Degeneres Show and features in sports magazines and non-gaming news outlets.

Ninja went on to play with other celebrities, including Chance the Rapper and English soccer players Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Kieran Trippier. He even streamed the game from New York’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve, expanding his reach beyond just gaming events.

Despite not gaming with mainstream celebrities recently, Ninja remains one of the most influential Fortnite streamers on Twitch and a face of gaming for many outside the gaming community.
