Nintendo Switch Fortnite players must create a fresh Epic Games account when connected to a PS4 | E3 2018

Fortnite: Battle Royale Cross-platform Account Issue on Nintendo Switch

Some players of Fortnite: Battle Royale on the Nintendo Switch are encountering a problem – they are unable to link their accounts.

If you have used your account on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) to play Fortnite or downloaded the PS Plus exclusive items, your account is effectively locked and cannot be used on any other system except PC. This is due to Sony’s strict policies on cross-platform gaming.

As a result, Switch owners will need to create a new account from scratch, losing all their progress from previous play sessions. However, if you play the game on mobile or Xbox One, without using PS4, then you should not face any issues.

Although it is possible to unlink your Sony account from your Epic Games account, doing so will result in the removal of all your purchases and earned game content on your Epic account, starting you back from scratch. At present, there is no other way to resolve this issue.

If you haven’t invested much time into your account or made any purchases, this won’t be a concern for you. However, for those who have dedicated numerous hours to the game over multiple seasons and have acquired items with V-bucks, unfortunately, there is no solution available.
