Newly Unveiled Fortnite Moth Command Gear Proves Dataminers’ Inability to Locate the Set

Epic Games Reveals New Moth Command Gear in Fortnite

The latest addition to Fortnite’s cosmetic collection is the Moth Command Gear. Epic Games unveiled this set on their official Twitter account last night. Players can now get their hands on the Mothmando outfit, Wingback back bling, Flutterbug glider, and Lamp pickaxe.

Interestingly, only the Lamp pickaxe was expected by players. When the 6.31 update was released, Fortnite dataminers failed to uncover the rest of the set. It appears that Epic Games managed to outsmart the dataminers this time.

According to dataminers, the 6.31 game files only contained two Commando skins. The Lamp pickaxe seemed unrelated to the previously leaked and upcoming cosmetics.

The release of previously undiscovered outfits, gliders, and back bling indicates that either the dataminers failed to find them in the game files or Epic Games has implemented stronger measures to hide upcoming cosmetic items. If the former is true, Epic Games might render the current method of datamining obsolete.

Epic Games has been clamping down on Fortnite dataminers. Some dataminers were allegedly banned last month for unauthorized use of the game, while others quit on their own to focus on playing rather than risking their accounts for datamining and leaking new information. In addition, Epic Games reportedly got Fortnite dataminers banned on YouTube due to copyright infringement when they showcased unreleased in-game content without authorization.

With the release of the Moth Command Gear, players who rely on leaks to get a sneak peek at upcoming cosmetics may need to be prepared for incomplete information. It remains to be seen whether the dataminers missing the Moth set was a simple oversight or if Epic Games is successfully combating their practices.
