New In-Game Events System Confirmed for Fortnite: Battle Royale, says Epic Games

Fortnite Introduces Open Tournaments for Everyone to Join

Exciting news for all Fortnite players! Epic Games has announced the launch of in-game tournaments that are open to all. The first version of these online competitions will be available in the upcoming 6.1 update. However, players must opt-in for crossplay in order to participate.

What is the In-Game Tournaments System?

The in-game tournament system allows players to compete in scheduled events. Each event presents a fresh start, where all players begin with the same score. They then compete intensively for several hours to earn as many points as possible. Points can be earned by achieving high placements or eliminating opponents.

Throughout the tournament, players will face opponents with similar scores in the standings. There will be a target score for players to aim for, and those who reach it will earn a shiny pin as recognition of their achievement.

Upcoming Tournaments

Here is the schedule for upcoming in-game events:

  • Alpha Tournament (Solo): Oct. 16 to 21
  • Beta Tournament (Duo): Oct. 23 to 25
  • Friday Night Fortnite (Squad): Oct. 19 to Nov. 30
  • Salty Springs Cup (Solo): Oct. 27 to 31
  • Tomato Temple Cup (Duo): Oct. 28 to Nov. 1

Future Plans

Epic Games plans to expand the tournament feature to include multiple rounds, where players must have earned a pin to qualify for each subsequent round. Additionally, players will be able to qualify for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup through a Showdown Royale tournament, which is part of the in-game Events system.

With the introduction of these in-game tournaments, Fortnite is aiming to spark excitement among players and fans of Fortnite esports.
