Fortnite: Battle Royale Introduces Game-Changing Updates
A series of significant changes have been implemented in Fortnite: Battle Royale today, which are expected to have a major impact on the game’s meta.
These updates can be seen as a reversion to previous changes made by Epic Games over the past few months. During this time, shotguns were weakened, submachine guns were strengthened, and the health of buildings was decreased in order to shake up the meta. While this approach was successful in altering the gameplay, a large portion of the community expressed their dissatisfaction.
Building Materials Receive a Boost
Building materials have received a buff, with an increase in the initial HP for each type. The initial HP of wood walls has been raised from 80 to 90, stone walls from 80 to 100, and metal walls from 80 to 110.
Epic Games shared, “We’ve noticed various discussions regarding SMGs, building material changes, and the interaction between weapons and structures. We believe that weapons should have distinct purposes and that building should feel satisfying while showcasing tactical skills during battles. Based on your feedback and our internal testing, we realized that the previous changes did not achieve the intended goals. These new changes aim to create a balance between the strengths and weaknesses of SMGs, shotguns, and structures in close range combat.”
Significant Revisions to SMGs
Several adjustments have been made to SMGs. The Compact SMG received a damage reduction from 22/21 to 21/20, and its magazine size has been decreased from 50 to 40.
However, the most notable change is the nerf to the Drum Gun. The Tommy Gun now has a reduced falloff range damage, a five percent decrease in jumping accuracy, a ten percent decrease in targeting accuracy, and a substantial 40 percent decrease in spawning rate for chests and floor loot.
