Mounted Turret undergoes third hotfix within a week of release

Fortnite Developer Epic Games Makes Adjustments to Mounted Turret

Epic Games, the developer behind the popular game Fortnite, has made further changes to the legendary trap, the Mounted Turret. Despite previously stating that adjustments would come next week, the company implemented a hotfix last night that reduced the headshot multiplier from 2.0x to 1.5x and decreased the time to overheat from 10 seconds to six. These changes coincided with the return of Dynamites to the game.

Players will now deal less damage with headshots using the Mounted Turret, as the weapon overheats and stops shooting sooner. These modifications were intended to be part of the upcoming 6.31 update, along with adjustments to improve accuracy against opponents using the Mounted Turret. Epic plans to make the turret’s floor susceptible to structure damage instead of player damage, making it easier for weapons to be effective against the trap.

This means that weapons and items that deal more damage to structures, such as Dynamite, will be highly effective against the Mounted Turret. Previously, the turret’s floor had its health reduced from 5,000 to 1,000 last week. Destroying the floor beneath the Mounted Turret will likely be the best strategy to counter it.

Epic has not stated whether they will decrease the frequency of Mounted Turret spawns for Fortnite players. Although there was allegedly a decrease in its availability over the weekend, some streamers were still seen carrying up to 12 Mounted Turrets in their inventory. This is a high number for a trap, especially considering it is an uncommon item like the Damage Trap.

Despite the reduced overheat time, the ability to carry an abundance of Mounted Turrets raises questions about the significance of the modification.

This marks the third adjustment made to the Mounted Turret since its introduction in the 6.30 Fortnite update last Wednesday. Players can only hope that the fourth change, set to arrive next week, will bring better balance to the weapon.
