Epic Games Continues to Improve Fortnite: Battle Royale with New Updates

Epic Games, the developer behind the immensely popular game Fortnite: Battle Royale, is constantly working to enhance and refine the gaming experience. In their latest State of Development update, they shared a plethora of information for players to digest.

Great news for console players: Epic is focused on making battling, building, and moving in Fortnite feel seamless on controllers. They have made tweaks to the Builder Pro feature to ensure more consistency, while also improving the speed of Turbo Building. Additionally, Epic is exploring the possibility of offering custom controller bindings, although a timeline for this change has not been provided yet.

The importance of limited-time modes was also highlighted in the update, as they allow Epic to experiment with different adjustments to the main game mode. The recent addition of the Jetpack as a limited-time item is a perfect example of this. Another upcoming limited-time mode, called Close Encounter LTM, will be launched tomorrow.

Players can also look forward to a Playground LTM in the future. This mode will provide an extended period of free exploration on the map, along with increased resource generation. All loot chests and ammo crates will be available, and friendly fire will be enabled, but players will instantly respawn upon death.

To improve game performance, Epic has implemented additional logging and diagnostics to help identify issues that can cause the game to freeze. They are also working on reducing loading times and have improved server tick rates from 20 to 30 hertz in standard game modes.

Among the exciting features coming in update 4.3 are challenge progress notifications, which will inform players of their advancement in specific challenges through in-game pop-ups. Epic is also working on improving in-world markers and refreshing the Victory Royale screen celebration. Other areas of focus for Epic include refining the spectator UI, minimap, footstep and vertical audio in high-density locations, and the replay system.

The full post contains important information for anyone interested in Epic Games’ upcoming plans. While it remains unclear when these changes will be introduced, Fortnite players can take comfort in knowing that the developer is committed to enhancing their favorite game.
