Fortnite v7.30 Content Update Removes Boombox from Game Modes
The latest update for Fortnite, v7.30 Content Update, introduces new features like Environmental Campfires and Bottle Rockets. However, alongside these additions, developer Epic Games has decided to vault the Boombox, removing it from standard game modes.
The Boombox was a throwable item that caused periodic damage to nearby structures. The recently introduced Bottle Rockets serve a similar purpose.
The main difference between Boomboxes and Bottle Rockets is their damage radius. Boomboxes caused damage in a circle around them, while Bottle Rockets deal damage in a cone in front of them. This means that the placement and orientation of the rockets are crucial, unlike the random damage caused by Boomboxes.
Players who relied on consumable items to destroy opponent’s structures will find this change to be a nerf to their strategy. Destroying structures now requires more precision, as Bottle Rockets cannot be randomly thrown and expected to destroy everything in their vicinity. Players will need to carefully choose the placement and timing of their rockets.
The removal of the Boombox aims to maintain the balance of consumable items found in chests. Each addition to the drop rates of items in chests decreases the drop rates of all other items. By removing the Boombox and introducing Bottle Rockets, Epic Games ensures minimal impact on the drop rates.
Players should expect to no longer encounter the Boombox in standard Fortnite: Battle Royale matches once the v7.30 Content Update is live on all servers.
