The v7.20 Content Update patch notes are now live as of Jan. 22 at 6:54 am CT.
In Fortnite, players can expect a new update every week.
Normally, Epic Games releases patches for Fortnite: Battle Royale and other modes on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. During these updates, the company introduces new features, balances weapons and items, announces competitive events, and provides general fixes.
Early this week, we can expect the 7.20 Content Update following the update we received last Tuesday. Sean “MrPopo” Hamilton, Epic’s community manager, confirmed this update on Twitter.
Usually, Content Updates bring minimal changes to the game. They mostly focus on fixing issues from previous updates and occasionally adding or removing a few items. Players should not expect major map changes or new mechanics in these updates.
However, players do not have concrete clues about what to expect in the next update. Nevertheless, we can make some assumptions based on player feedback.
Here’s what could change in the upcoming 7.20 Content Update for Fortnite.
Quad Launcher vaulted with other items
Epic’s design lead, Eric Williamson, stated in a tweet that the explosive weapon Quad Launcher will be vaulted in the upcoming Content Update. Other changes and potential vaults may also occur with mobility items.
Sneaky Snowman item
An item called Sneaky Snowman will soon allow players to disguise themselves as a snowman. This consumable item was announced in the in-game News tab, which states, “Become a master of disguise.”
While the release date for the Sneaky Snowman has not been confirmed, Epic typically adds these items in the following update. Therefore, players can expect it to be included in the 7.20 Content Update.
Drop rate adjustments for Shield items
Since the release of the 7.20 update, some Fortnite players have complained about a shortage of shield items from chests. It appears that the addition of the glider redeploy item has affected the drop rates of consumable items in chests, leading to a decrease in the drop rate of small and normal Shield Potions and Slurp Juices.
In the 7.20 Content Update, Epic plans to address this issue by adjusting the drop rates. It is likely that they will slightly reduce the drop rate of Gliders while increasing the drop rate of shield items.
A new Starter Pack
In the game’s News tab, a message states that the Deep Freeze cosmetics bundle will soon be leaving Fortnite: Battle Royale. Since Epic typically releases cosmetic bundles, such as the Cobalt Starter Pack, players can expect a new Starter Pack soon. However, Epic has not made an official announcement regarding the specific Starter Pack, but if the information found in the game files is accurate, players should see it in tomorrow’s update.
A new area on The Block
Fortnite updates often feature a new fan-made creation in the Fortnite Creative area known as The Block. With the release of the patch and server availability, players may notice a new arena or named location north of Wailing Woods. However, Epic has not yet announced which creation will be featured this week.
