Fortnite: Battle Royale’s Pump Shotgun to Receive Adjustments in 5.30 Update
The pump shotgun in Fortnite: Battle Royale will undergo another adjustment in the game’s upcoming 5.30 update, as revealed by Eric Williamson, the design lead at Epic Games.
Reduced Equip Time for Pump Shotgun
According to Williamson’s tweet, the equip time for the pump shotgun will be slightly reduced in the next update. Other shotguns, however, will remain unaffected.
Motivation Behind the Change
The equip time modification was implemented to counter the popular “double pump” strategy, which allowed players to quickly switch between two powerful shotguns and fire them rapidly. As a result of this change, shotguns became less effective and submachine guns took over the dominant meta.
Impact of the Change
It remains to be seen whether this adjustment will bring back the “double pump” strategy in any capacity, as the equip time change made it impractical. The 5.30 update is expected to be released next week, most likely on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
