Fortnite’s Peppers Have Improved in the v8.20 Content Update, but Still Fall Short

Fortnite: Battle Royale receives v8.20 Content Update

The latest v8.20 Content Update for Fortnite: Battle Royale was released this morning. Although it was relatively small in comparison to previous updates, there was one notable change that caught players’ attention, along with the addition of the Explosive Bow.

Peppers receive a significant boost

Peppers, which are consumable items found in the desert biome, now provide a 40% increase in movement speed. In the previous v8.20 patch, Peppers only increased movement speed by 20%. Additionally, the effect has doubled in duration from 10 to 20 seconds.

Peppers still lack in mobility

While these increases may seem significant, Peppers are still far from being an effective and reliable mobility item in Fortnite. Although the speed boost is noticeable, it falls short compared to the advantage gained from using vehicles or other vaulted items like Grapplers and Impulse Grenades.

Peppers vs. Vehicles and Mobility Items

When comparing Peppers to vehicles and mobility items, the difference becomes even more apparent. Vehicles like The Baller and the Quadcrasher provide more reliable and versatile mobility options, allowing players to reach high speeds and heights. Mobility items such as the Flint-Knock Pistol and the Impulse Grenade also offer better capabilities for executing specific actions in the game.

Peppers do not increase jump height or offer protection, requiring players to rely on building structures to gain elevation. They also lack the utility of vehicles and mobility items for navigating difficult terrains and avoiding fall damage.

In order for Peppers to become a sought-after item in the game, more adjustments need to be made by Epic to improve their speed and versatility.
