Fortnite’s Latest Update Introduces the Return of Blitz Mode and Cube Monsters

The Fortnite: Battle Royale v6.22 Update – What to Expect

The latest update for Fortnite: Battle Royale, v6.22, has arrived hot on the heels of the Fortnitemares event and the explosive demise of cube Kevin.

Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, have released details of several changes to the game in this update. While some changes were already known, such as the addition of the Heavy AR, the return of another Fortnitemares mode came as a surprise.

New Weapon: Heavy AR

The Heavy AR comes in rare, epic, and legendary variants, boasting a magazine size of 25 rounds. This is five less than a regular assault rifle, but it compensates with higher damage, dealing between 44 and 48 damage per shot depending on rarity. It rewards accuracy with a fire rate of 3.75, but be careful not to miss too many shots, as this will result in frequent reloads. The heavy AR can be found in floor loot, chests, Vending Machines, and Supply Drops.

Fortnitemares: Team Terror

The Fortnitemares event returns, this time in the form of a limited-time mode called Team Terror. In this mode, two teams of 32 players battle it out, with the last team standing emerging as the winner. However, this time players will also have to contend with the presence of Cube Monsters and Spawns scattered across the map. For those familiar with the Halloween event, the mechanics of Fortnitemares will remain unchanged.

Team Terror boosts the likelihood of floor loot spawns and offers triple the ammo from ammo boxes, double the consumables from chests, and 75 percent more resources from farming. In this mode, you’ll be battle-ready in no time.

The Blitz! Mode Returns

Introducing the Blitz! mode, a faster-paced version of Battle Royale. In this mode, Epic has increased the chances of finding chests and other resources compared to previous iterations of Blitz. This means chests and ammo boxes will spawn more frequently, while the number of llamas per match is quadrupled and the spawn rate and descent speed of Supply Drops are increased.

Aside from these new modes, the regular game modes also received some minor changes. Balloons are now less likely to appear, and the special Pumpkin Launcher has been reverted back to the standard Rocket Launcher. The storm damage cap has also been reduced from 10 to eight. No weapons have been vaulted in this update.

Bug-Free Update

Previous Fortnite updates caused instability and delays in the Epic servers. However, this latest update is live and seems to have avoided any major issues.
