Fortnite’s latest update introduces the Driftboard and exciting new LTMs in version 7.40

Fortnite Season 7: v7.40 Content Update Patch Notes Released

The patch notes for Fortnite’s v7.40 Content Update are now live. This update is likely to be the final one for season seven, which concludes on February 27th.

Epic confirmed last night that the update would be coming this morning, and it was stated that there would be no downtime required. This is unusual for big updates, so we already anticipated a v7.40 Content Update with small additions and changes, which is exactly what has been revealed today.

The highly anticipated Driftboard has finally arrived, with more Overtime challenges set to be released later today. Additionally, weapon and item adjustments have also taken effect.

These are the key highlights of the v7.40 Content Update that all players will soon be able to enjoy.

Driftboard: A New Addition

Fortnite developer, Epic Games, has officially unveiled the Driftboard. This one-player vehicle allows players to ride slopes while still being able to use all their items and weapons. According to Epic, players can shoot, consume items, and revive allies without leaving the Driftboard. However, it is not possible to build structures while on the Driftboard.

The Driftboard can be found all over the map. Although it has finally been introduced to the game, it remains uncertain how the end of season seven will impact the Fortnite island and if it will continue to be available in season eight. Fans may want to make the most of it this week, just in case it is removed next week.

New Limited Time Modes

In celebration of the Driftboard’s arrival, Epic has introduced the Driftin’ LTM this week. This is a large-team mode where two teams of 32 players compete. Chests and ammo boxes have been removed, and players can only find loot through Supply Drops. These drops contain weapons, ammo, and a Driftboard each. Using a Driftboard provides passive health and shield regeneration to the user.

Another mode called Catch! LTM requires players to rely solely on throwable items, as guns are disabled. Chest and floor loot spawn rates are set to 100%, Supply Drops appear more frequently, and storm circles move more swiftly compared to other standard modes. Winning the match will require players to master the timing of their explosive throws.

These are the only changes in the v7.40 Content Update. No additional weapons or items have been added, removed, or altered, and there have been no major map changes announced. Players will need to explore the game to discover any other changes that may not be included in the patch notes.
