Fortnite’s latest update introduces Double Barrel Shotgun and Steady Storm LTM

The Latest Update for Fortnite: New Content and Changes

Fortnite’s servers are currently down as Epic Games updates the game with exciting new content. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect in the latest update.

Introducing the Double Barrel Shotgun

The highlight of the 5.2 update is the addition of the Double Barrel Shotgun. This powerful weapon comes in Epic and Legendary variants and can be found as floor loot, in chests, supply drops, and vending machines.

The Double Barrel Shotgun is designed for close range combat, delivering high burst damage. However, its effectiveness decreases significantly over long distances. Unlike other shotguns, it fires 10 pellets with a larger spread and lower critical damage. Additionally, there is a two second cooldown when swapping weapons. The Legendary variant of the gun can deal up to 150 base damage per shot at extremely close range.

New Limited Time Mode: Steady Storm

Update 5.2 introduces a thrilling new limited time mode called Steady Storm. In this mode, the storm constantly moves and closes in over the island within 15 minutes. There are no safe zone circles, so players will need to predict the storm’s next move. Beware, as the storm deals 10 damage per second, urging players to keep moving.

Other Updates

The update also brings minor changes, including a vending machine rebalance and adjustments to remote explosives. Vending machines will now have reduced common variants and increased availability of other variants, with lowered costs. As for remote explosives, the drop count has been reduced from four to three, and the max stack size is now six instead of ten.

In a smaller yet convenient tweak, players can now view their challenges in-game. Daily and suggested challenges will appear on the in-game map screen.
