Fortnite Now Supports 60 FPS on iOS Devices
Fortnite players on iOS devices can now enjoy the game in 60 FPS, as announced by game developer Epic Games in a recent blog post.
The first iOS devices to support the extended frame rate are iPhones XS, XS Max, and XR. Epic has also confirmed that 60 FPS support for iPad Pro will be added in the next game update. Meanwhile, owners of other iOS devices can already play Fortnite at the new frame rate.
To experience the higher frame rate, players need to adjust the settings in the game menu. However, some devices may experience increased heat due to the battery and memory consumption. Therefore, Epic has chosen to keep the default frame rate at 30 to prevent excessive drain on the battery.
Epic Games has conducted extensive testing to ensure that the increased frame rate does not cause overheating or impact game performance for Fortnite players on iOS. According to the developer, having high frame rates for only a few minutes would not be practical.
This is also the reason why 60 FPS support has not been implemented in the Android version of Fortnite. Android devices are manufactured by different companies and use varying components, resulting in different device performances. Epic Games is working closely with Android phone manufacturers to optimize the game and support 60 FPS on certain high-end Android devices in the future.
