Fortnite’s gifting feature set to be disabled within hours

Fortnite Gifting Feature Disabled, but May Return in the Future

Players of Fortnite: Battle Royale will no longer be able to use the gifting feature after 9am CT this Tuesday. The period for gifting was initially set to last a week, but developer Epic Games has called it the “initial period” and has left players with hope that it will return to the game soon.

The Requirements for Gifting

To send cosmetic items from the Item Shop to their friend’s inventory, players had to meet several requirements. They needed to be friends with the recipient for at least 48 hours, enable two-factor authentication on their Epic game accounts, and have enough V-Bucks to purchase the gift. Players also had the option to add a short message to the gift. Recipients, on the other hand, had the choice to refuse gifts from other players in the game settings.

Temporary Features in Fortnite

Epic Games often introduces new features temporarily in Fortnite as a way to test them before making them permanent. The Support-A-Creator funding program, for example, was initially introduced for a limited time and has now become a permanent feature. It is likely that Epic will analyze the data from the gifting feature before deciding to bring it back with the same options or in a revamped form. However, they have not yet announced when they plan to reintroduce it.
