Fortnite’s Excavation Site at Dusty Divot Consumed by Lava

Fortnite: Battle Royale Players Witness the Dig Site in Dusty Divot Filled with Lava

Fortnite: Battle Royale players have completed the digging at the excavation site in Dusty Divot, but it came at a price.

Lava has now flooded the site, destroying all the chests that players had uncovered while digging. This has transformed the center of Dusty Divot into a hot pool of lava. Players who witnessed the event reported that the lava began rising as soon as the last chunk of dirt was destroyed. Some players even recorded a video of the moment when this happened.

Prior to the appearance of lava in this site, players had uncovered a Volcano Vent near Paradise Palms. These two events suggest a connection between excavation sites and the volcano that Epic Games introduced at the start of season eight. The first site helped to release pressure underground, while the second one facilitated the flow of lava. If there’s a third site that uncovers something even worse, it could result in a disaster.

Some Reddit users believe that this could be a late April Fools’ joke by Epic. Many players were expecting the company to make changes to the game on that day, but were disappointed when nothing happened. Perhaps burying 11 chests in a pool of lava is Epic’s way of saying they fooled us.

Regardless of the cause behind the rise of lava in Dusty Divot, we still don’t know if it will continue to rise until Dusty becomes entirely flooded with lava or if a third excavation site will provide new clues about their purpose in the game. In the meantime, we may also find out if the helicopter that has been flying around the island is somehow connected to these sites.
