Fortnite’s Enormous Purple Cube Shatters, Unveiling a Fresh Leaky Lake

The Highly-Anticipated Cube Event in Fortnite: Battle Royale

The much-awaited one-time event in Fortnite: Battle Royale took place on Sunday afternoon, with all eyes on the giant cube.

At 12pm CT, the cube started pulsing with a purple light. It then began spinning at an increasing speed, revealing visible cracks. Eventually, the cube exploded and transported everyone into a white void where they encountered butterflies.

Once players touched the butterflies, the game returned to its normal map, with the addition of a new Leaky Lake. This transformed the lake into a completely different-looking version, featuring a massive rainbow hovering above.

The cube made its appearance in season five after being struck by a powerful lightning bolt. Since then, it has brought about significant changes. From burning runes into the ground to creating low-gravity zones and turning Loot Lake into a floating island, the cube has wreaked havoc throughout the Fortnite map.

On October 24, the Halloween event, Fortnitemares, introduced Cube Monsters into the game. However, it turns out that it was Kevin (the giant cube) having some fun, as it scattered cube pieces all over the map which contained the Cube Monsters.

Now that the Fortnitemares event has concluded and the purple cube has exploded, Fortnite players can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
