Fortnite’s endgame now includes storm damage to player structures

A Big Change Coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale

Next week, Fortnite: Battle Royale is set to undergo a major change that could have a significant impact on the outcome of matches. Eric Williamson, the lead designer of Fortnite, revealed this news in a recent developer update video on Twitter. He discussed what players can expect in the upcoming update 5.40, with the most significant change being the damage inflicted on player-built structures by the edge of the storm during the final stages of the game.

Impact on Esports and Tournaments

Williamson explained that this alteration will affect less than 10% of matches, aiming to introduce more dynamic gameplay. However, it is expected to have a profound impact on esports and tournament play.

Changes to Items and Gameplay

Additionally, the Revolver will be vaulted, meaning it will no longer be available in-game. While vaulted items may return in the future, this change is intended to keep the loot pool feeling fresh. Williamson also hinted at a new mobility item being introduced in the 5.40 update, but provided no further details. Other adjustments include the rarity change of Remote Explosives from Rare to Epic and Boogie Bombs dropping in stacks of two instead of one.

The most significant item change is the ability to hold Shields in stacks of three instead of two. As a result, players can now carry up to 150 HP worth of shield in their inventory.
