Epic Games Unveils Details about the Future of Competitive Fortnite

Epic Games has released more information about the future of competitive Fortnite in a recent three-part blog series. The company revealed details about the upcoming Fortnite World Cup and outlined plans for the game’s $100 million prize pool in 2019.

The Fortnite World Cup was first announced last year, and now it has become a reality. The tournament is scheduled to begin on April 13, with the qualifying period running from April 13 to June 16. Eligible players will have a chance to compete for a $1 million prize pool.

The top 100 Solo players and top 50 Duos from the qualifying rounds will compete in the Fortnite World Cup finals in New York from July 26 to 28. The finals will feature a massive $30 million prize pool, ensuring that every qualifying player will receive at least $50,000, which is higher than the average wage in many countries.

Epic Games also announced that weekly $1 million tournaments will continue throughout 2019, with different modes and formats to be revealed in the coming weeks. The company aims to cater to a variety of playstyles and provide opportunities for players to participate.

Additionally, Epic Games promised better tournament tools and prizes for select partners, although the specifics have not been disclosed yet. With the biggest prize pool in competitive gaming, more teams are expected to compete and vie for their share of rewards.
