Fortnite World Cup Duos Finals elude Tfue, Ninja, and other prominent streamers

Big Fortnite Streamers Struggle to Qualify for World Cup

This weekend, popular Fortnite: Battle Royale streamers had a tough time qualifying for the World Cup. Well-known streamers like Tfue and Ninja fell short of the qualifying spots in their regions during the Duos competition.

Tfue and Cloak Place 84th in North America East

In the Fortnite World Cup Duos Open Qualifier, Tfue and Cloak were the top Twitch streamers in the North America East servers, finishing in 84th place. Despite scoring 57 points, they fell 30 points short of qualifying for third place. Meanwhile, on the North America West servers, NICKMERCS and NioRooch placed 18th with 72 points, but still needed 99 points for first place.

Ninja and Reverse2k Miss Top 100 in NA East

Ninja and Reverse2k managed to score 53 points in NA East, placing 130th and failing to reach the top 100. TSM’s Myth and Poppin fared even worse, finishing 161st with 51 points. SypherPK and WBG’s Ranger played on the NA West servers, scoring 55 points for a 101st-place finish.

Famous Streamers May Not Be the Most Skilled

Even popular streamers like Dakotaz and TimTheTatman didn’t participate in the qualifiers, while DrLupo and CouRage served as on-air talent. These placements show that fame doesn’t necessarily translate to skill in the game. Those who solely focus on competing have a better chance of success as they can dedicate more time to grinding and adapting to the meta and format of the World Cup.

Nevertheless, all of these streamers still have four more opportunities to qualify for both the Solo and Duos competitions. If they manage to qualify, they will compete in the Fortnite World Cup Finals from July 26 to 28 in New York City, vying for a piece of the $30 million prize pool.
