Fortnite Twitch viewership increases while PUBG maintains stability

Fortnite: Battle Royale Gaining Ground on Twitch

In the world of esports, 2017 has been dominated by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). However, a new infographic from Gamoloco reveals that Fortnite: Battle Royale is quickly making a name for itself, particularly in terms of Twitch viewership.

Gamoloco, a website that tracks Twitch livestreaming viewership, has compiled data to showcase the rise of Fortnite over the past few months.

Looking back to the beginning of October, Fortnite was ranked eighth in terms of hours watched on Twitch. However, in November, the game experienced a significant surge in popularity, climbing all the way to fourth place by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, PUBG has consistently held the number two spot throughout the year, making it one of the most successful games in terms of both sales and viewership. Nevertheless, the growing popularity of Fortnite cannot be overlooked.

The rise of Fortnite can be attributed to several prominent streamers, such as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and “Grimmmz,” who have made it their primary game of choice over PUBG.

Although Fortnite does offer a PvE mode, a quick look at the game’s directory on Twitch reveals that the majority of viewers are focused on the free-to-play Battle Royale mode.

As we approach December, the ongoing debate between PUBG and Fortnite will become even more significant, with the release of PUBG’s 1.0 update. However, both games can celebrate the fact that the popularity of the genre continues to soar.
