Fortnite to Introduce New Drop Mechanic in Upcoming Update

Gliders in Fortnite: Battle Royale Getting Changes in Upcoming Update

The next game update for Fortnite: Battle Royale, version 6.20, will bring some tweaks to the glider mechanics.

Epic Games made an announcement today, revealing that gliders will soon be able to be deployed mid-game when a player is at least three stories high. This feature was first introduced in the Soaring 50’s Limited Time Mode, but now the developers want to test if it should become a permanent part of the game.

“We’re testing how providing a singular mobility mechanic that all players can use will affect regular gameplay,” stated Epic Games in a blog post. “We’re planning to run this test for a week. Drop in, try it out, and let us know what you think!”

This change eliminates the need for rifts or the floating island wind vortex to deploy gliders. Players will only require a few staircases worth of materials and an elevated surface to move swiftly between locations.

The redeploying glider mechanic will be available for player testing in Solo, Duo, and Squad matches later this week.
