Fortnite Season 8 Patch Notes Unveil Volcano and New Named Locations

Fortnite Season 8 Patch Notes Revealed

The highly anticipated season 8 of Fortnite: Battle Royale has arrived with the v8.00 update, and players are eager to know what’s in store for this new season.

Our speculations based on hints from Epic Games have been confirmed: the new season will feature a volcano, fire, and lots of lava.

Epic has released a cinematic trailer on Twitter to give players a glimpse of what to expect.

Volcano

A volcano has emerged on the Fortnite island where Wailing Woods used to be. This has resulted in changes to named locations, introducing new areas like Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon.

Lava and Volcanic Vents

Fortnite players will encounter new elements across the island. Lava is a fiery surface that causes one damage to players upon contact and propels them backward.

Volcanic Vents, on the other hand, can launch players and vehicles into the air as they move over them.

Party Assist

In season 8, Fortnite introduces the Party Assist feature, allowing players to share their Battle Pass challenge progress with friends. Enabling this feature allows friends’ actions to contribute to the player’s own challenge progression.

Vaulted Items

Sneaky Snowmans, Chiller Grenades, X-4 Stormwings, All-Terrain Karts, and Shopping Carts have been removed from Fortnite, although no weapons were vaulted.

Pirate Cannon

While there isn’t a pirate boat as speculated, players can find Pirate Cannons scattered across the Fortnite island. These cannons can be used to break through structures and inflict significant damage on opponents.

Pirate Cannons deal 100 damage on direct hits and 50 damage within their cannon ball explosion radius. Players can also use the cannons to launch themselves.

Four teaser images were released prior to the start of season 8, which could be combined to form a larger image. Although the patch notes are available, it may take some time to see all the new Battle Pass skins.

Season 8 of Fortnite is now available around the world. Server downtime for the update began at 3am CT on Thursday and should be completed shortly. Players can keep their game client open to download the update and be ready to play once the servers are back online.
