Fortnite professional players express concerns over stretched resolution adjustments in competitive modes.

Fortnite: Battle Royale Players Upset Over Changes to Stretched Resolutions

Professional players of Fortnite: Battle Royale are frustrated by the recent announcement that stretched resolutions will no longer be allowed in the game’s competitive modes. Previously, players were able to utilize stretched resolutions to increase their field of view. However, Epic Games has decided to lock the resolution at a 16:9 aspect ratio for the Arena mode and competitive in-game Events. This change has raised concerns among professional players regarding the upcoming Fortnite World Cup Open Qualifiers.

Player Reactions

Jake “POACH” Brumleve from Team Liquid expressed his disappointment with Epic Games’ decision on Twitter, stating, “It looked like things were moving in the right direction with stretched resolution. This change shows a lack of competitive development and communication between players. I don’t need to rant about this, as the community will surely voice their concerns. But it’s clear that integrity doesn’t matter.”

POACH’s teammate, Ryan “Chap” Chaplo, also criticized Epic Games, stating, “It’s crazy how incompetent they are at running anything ‘competitive.’ This game has become a joke.” Other players, such as Cayden “Carose” Bradford from Sentinel, echoed these sentiments, feeling demotivated and even depressed about the changes to stretched resolutions.

Mixed Opinions

Not all players are upset about the change. Ali “SypherPK” Hassan mentioned that he is partly glad he no longer has to play with stretched resolution, despite the benefits it provided. However, he did express disappointment at the last-minute decision by Epic Games, as players had assumed stretched resolutions would still be allowed after they were permitted in the Secret Skirmish event.

Humorous Take by Daequan Loco

TSM player Daequan Loco humorously mocked players who used stretched resolution, jokingly suggesting it was time to throw that “cartridge” away. He accompanied this tweet with a montage of Fortnite as if it were a Game Boy Advance game.

Despite the negative feedback from professional players, Epic Games has not yet provided any official comment or response.
