The first teaser for Fortnite: Battle Royale season eight was released yesterday. It included a short riddle that starts with “X marks the spot” and suggests that there will be plenty of treasure in the new season.
Despite its brevity, Fortnite players are going wild and trying to locate the “X” that marks the spot.
Fans Discover Clues in Various Locations
Fortnite’s subreddit is buzzing with several posts by fans claiming to have found an “X” in a painting in Wailing Woods, on rocks around hills, and even on a pickaxe loosely connected to Pleasant Park. These “X” marks are carved into hard materials, and players are spending hours searching for new ones that could potentially hold significance.
On the other hand, some players are having fun by misleading others in their quest to find the “X.” For instance, one player discovered that a particular grass pattern seems to have several marks that resemble an “X,” while another player clarified that this is simply a part of the grass’s texture, which has always been like that.
A few players grew tired of searching for the mark and decided to create their own. Some used two Driftboards to form an “X,” and others used image editing software to superimpose an “X” over the entire Tilted Towers area.
Mysterious “X” Raises Questions
It remains unclear what this “X” signifies and what it means for the game and season eight. Players will have to wait a bit longer, as Fortnite season eight officially kicks off on Thursday, February 28.
