Fortnite Mobile Earns $25 Million in Debut Month, Projected to Reach $500 Million in 2018

Fortnite Generates over $25 Million in Revenue on iOS in First 30 Days

Fortnite, the popular game, earned an impressive $25 million in revenue within its first 30 days of release on iOS, despite being invite-only for the first two weeks.

The game initially launched on iOS in mid-March, limited to those who had signed up for an invite. However, once it was made available to all iOS users on April 1, gamers wasted no time in spending over $25 million in purchases within the next 30 days, as reported by mobile data blog Sensor Tower.

This free-to-play game earns its revenue through in-game purchases of V-Bucks, the game’s virtual currency. Players can use V-Bucks to buy skins for their characters, as well as tools like pickaxes and gliders, and even emotes. Fans have shown a great love for these items, driving the game’s revenue.

What’s even more remarkable for Epic Games and Fortnite is that the game has not yet been released on Android. Once it becomes available on Android, the game’s income is expected to reach new heights.

According to Sensor Tower’s report, “Epic Games has yet to divulge when Fortnite will launch on Google Play. But, should that happen by summer–and if the title is able to maintain its current hysteria-level popularity among gamers for a few more months–our estimates indicate the game could be poised to gross more than $500 million by the end of 2018 across both platforms combined.”

Furthermore, Sensor Tower reported that from April 1 to 15, Fortnite generated $9.5 million in revenue, surpassing well-known apps such as Tinder, Pandora, YouTube, and Hulu. This revenue was 1.5 times higher than the next-highest game on the list during the same time period, Candy Crush.
