Fortnite map welcomes monument commemorating notorious failed rescue mission

Fortnite Adds Tribute to Viral Clip in Latest Update

Today, the v5.1 update for Fortnite brought the usual weekly dose of new content, including a new gun, new skins, and various adjustments for players to enjoy.

However, something unexpected also appeared. A player stumbled upon a new addition to the game’s map that pays homage to a recent viral clip which drove fans crazy last week.

The clip, which has amassed nearly four million views on Twitter, features Australian content creator Mr Muselk encountering a fellow player named Chappadoodle stranded on a low ledge off the edge of the map. Muselk attempts to build down to him, but encounters difficulties.

“Maybe I am going to heaven after all, I hope god’s watching,” Mr Muselk said, attempting to initiate a rescue.

The ledge is outside the buildable area, so Mr Muselk devises a new plan: he drives a kart off the edge, letting Chappadoodle bounce off the roof onto a ramp and climb up.

Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned. Muselk loses control of the kart and accidentally crashes into Chappadoodle, resulting in a watery death.

After today’s update, Reddit user StoreBrandEnigma visited the site of the failed rescue and discovered that a gravestone has been added to the area. This serves as a fitting tribute to Chappadoodle, as his death in Fortnite has become one of the most famous moments in the game’s history.

Additionally, there are now new tires on the cliff side, allowing other players to avoid a similar fate as Chappadoodle and bounce up to the ramp without a risky stunt.

Hopefully, Chappadoodle and Muselk will have the chance to revisit the scene of the incident soon. After all, what could be more awesome than taking a selfie with your own tombstone?
