Epic Games asks FNBRLeaks to Delete Social Media Accounts
According to the person behind FNBRLeaks, Epic Games has allegedly requested that the Twitter account deactivate and delete all of its other social media channels.
Legal Action Threatened
Preston, the person behind FNBRLeaks, stated in a Twitlonger post that an Epic Games attorney asked him to delete his Twitter, Discord, YouTube, Instagram, and GitHub accounts. Failure to comply would result in legal action from Epic.
Deletion to Avoid Legal Trouble
Preston has agreed to Epic’s request in order to avoid any potential legal issues. In a brief explanation, he expressed gratitude to those who supported him over the past seven months.
FNBRLeaks and Fortnite Leak Culture
FNBRLeaks was one of the prominent Twitter accounts known for leaking unreleased cosmetic items and map changes in Fortnite. These leaks often appeared in the game days or weeks before Epic implemented them officially.
In November, Epic began cracking down on leaks by limiting access to game files and banning users. Content creators on YouTube who featured leaked cosmetics were also contacted by Epic and asked to remove their videos.
While FNBRLeaks is not the first account to attract Epic’s attention for leaking, it is one of the first to completely wipe its social media accounts at the developer’s request.
