Fortnite Leak Reveals Classic Battle Royale Mode Exclusive to Season 1 and 2 Weapons

Update 12/19 8:32pm CT: The new classic mode is now live. Original story below.

A new leak has revealed that a “classic” game mode will be added to Fortnite: Battle Royale. This mode will limit players to only using the weapons available in the first two seasons. The leak came from a reliable source named YzBeats.

Fans have long been suggesting a classic mode that features the old map, weapons, and cosmetic items. This leak gives hope to those fans who have been clamoring for an old-school experience.

Although the leaked description doesn’t mention reverting the map back to the original and cosmetics won’t be limited, the new classic mode should provide old and new fans with something fun to enjoy.

The Classic mode will also support three-person teams, which was another piece of information leaked by dataminers after the 7.10 update. This means that players will have the option to compete in three-person teams instead of only being able to play in squads.

Additionally, the Classic mode may reintroduce the glider re-deploy feature that was tested in October. This feature allows players to redeploy their glider to save themselves from fall damage. Although Epic disabled the feature a few weeks after testing it, its potential return may be a sign that it will be available in all modes, which could be a controversial decision.

Since the glider re-deploy feature was not present in the first two seasons of Fortnite: Battle Royale, it doesn’t align with the old-school theme of the game mode. However, it’s possible that Epic will bring it back in the future, even though it may not be well-received by the community.

The Classic mode is still unconfirmed by Epic, but it may be introduced during the game’s 14 Days of Fortnite event, which will feature both old and new Limited Time Modes.
