Fortnite Introduces Squads Mode for The Floor is Lava LTM on Upcoming Weekend

Epic Games Plans to Rotate The Floor is Lava Limited Time Mode

Epic Games has announced plans to rotate The Floor is Lava Limited Time Mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale. The mode will be available in Duos, Squads, and Solo, with Squads being the mode available this weekend, according to a Reddit post by an Epic employee known as DustyDevo.

Rotation System to Improve Matchmaking Times

To avoid longer matchmaking times, Epic Games decided to rotate the three different modes instead of having them all available at the same time. DustyDevo stated that having too many playlists simultaneously would slow down matchmaking. However, a big-team The Floor is Lava mode, such as 50-vs-50, is not currently in development and will not be part of this rotation cycle.

The Floor is Lava Game Mode

The Floor is Lava was introduced in the recent v8.20 Fortnite update. In this mode, players must be the last team standing while the lava rises and engulfs the map. Buildings and mountains are eventually consumed by the lava, transforming the map into a treacherous sea of molten rock. To survive, players must construct their own structures to avoid touching the lava.

Survival Tactics in The Floor is Lava

To survive the rising lava, players passively receive materials throughout the game. Coming into contact with the lava causes direct damage to a player’s health, so it is common to see players strategically shooting opponents’ structures to make them collapse into the lava. The use of Glider Re-deploys is also vital for survival in The Floor is Lava mode.

If you want to experience The Floor is Lava mode before the weekend, it is currently available in Duos. Solo mode will rotate in at a later date, potentially replacing the Squads mode that will be live on the upcoming weekend.
