Fortnite Introduces Glider Redeploy as a New Feature

Glider Redeploy Returning to Fortnite: Battle Royale

The glider redeploy mechanic will soon be making a comeback to Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Game developer Epic Games announced today that the glider redeploy functionality is being itemized. The item will be called Glider and can be obtained through traditional loot sources.

The Glider will have charges per usage, just like balloons and grapplers. Once the charge number reaches zero, the Glider will disappear. However, launch pads, rifts-to-go, and limited time mode respawns will not affect the number of charges for the Glider item.

According to an Epic Games blog post, the objective of implementing the Glider as an item is to provide mobility and utility in a balanced and iterative manner. This will allow for adjustments in factors such as redeploy height, movement speed, drop chance, and charge count, while also maintaining inventory slot tension.

When the redeploy mechanic was introduced last year, it received mixed feedback from the Fortnite community. Epic Games eventually removed it from default modes and limited it to limited time modes. Now, with the introduction of the Glider item, players will have the chance to use the glider redeploy mechanic in a more balanced way.
