A special event is happening in Fortnite thanks to a collaboration between Epic Games and Marvel
Tomorrow, Fortnite players will have the opportunity to experience a very special limited time event. Epic Games has teamed up with Marvel to bring Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet into the game itself. Yes, you heard that right, the big bad Mad Titan from Avengers: Infinity War will be playable in Fortnite.
The Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup mode
In this limited time mode, the game will mostly play out as usual, with one big catch. The Infinity Gauntlet, equipped with all six Infinity Stones, will appear on the map. The player who picks up the Gauntlet will transform into Thanos and gain all of the glove’s powers. This unique mode is bound to bring even more excitement to the Fortnite experience.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this incredible team-up came to fruition because Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Infinity War, are big fans of Fortnite. They would take breaks from editing the movie to play the game and eventually came up with the idea for an Avengers-Fortnite mashup. They reached out to Donald Mustard, the creative director at Epic Games, and the rest is history.
An Epic Team-Up
The recent success of Avengers: Infinity War, which set records for the biggest weekend opening and reached the $1 billion milestone in just 11 days, makes this collaboration even more legendary. It truly is a team-up of epic proportions that even the Avengers themselves might envy.
Donald Mustard expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”
