Floating Island in Fortnite May Move to Corrupted Areas

The Floating Island in Fortnite is Moving Towards the Corrupted Areas

The island that once floated above Loot Lake in Fortnite has now started moving and seems to be heading towards the “corrupted areas” of the map.

Twitter users @lucas7yoshi and @AyeTSG possibly discovered the island’s future path by exploiting the replay feature. They found that the island will move to each of the seven corrupted areas on the map and create volcanic pits at each location.

In season five, a giant purple cube left runes burned into the ground in seven different locations. When the seventh symbol appeared, the cube submerged into Loot Lake, causing the lake to become bouncy and eventually lift into the air at the start of season six.

These rune locations are now marked as the corrupted areas in season six, featuring the new consumable item, the Shadow Stone. However, the stones have been disabled twice already due to various issues.

Similar to the cube, which became predictable due to a graphics oversight on mobile, allowing users to see its path, we can make an educated guess about where the floating island is headed. But could this floating island be part of something bigger?

The cube was the main catalyst for map changes at the end of season five, but it remains unclear how the floating island will fit into the grand scheme of season six.
