Fan builds real-life version of Fortnite’s Grappler

Mobility Items in Fortnite: Battle Royale

After the recent v7.20 Content Update, mobility items in Fortnite: Battle Royale have become scarce and less effective. Vehicles like the X-4 Stormwing plane and the Quadcrasher are appearing less frequently on the map, and Epic Games has reduced the spawn rates of Balloons and Gliders.

The Removal of the Grappler

However, the most significant change to mobility is the removal of the Grappler from the game. The Grappler was an item that allowed players to shoot a plunger tied to a gun, which would stick to objects and launch the user towards them at high speed. It was a popular tool for quickly traversing the map and climbing structures.

Player Recreates the Grappler in Real Life

A Fortnite player named Tfoust10 misses the Grappler so much that he decided to recreate it in real life. He shared a picture of the prototype on the Fortnite subreddit, stating that he and his friend are ready to test fire it within a week. However, there are doubts whether the plunger will actually stick to objects like in the game. Tfoust10 is confident that they can shoot it a distance of at least 60 feet.

Concerns and Precautions

Tfoust10’s main concern is adding a rope to the gun to replicate the in-game mechanics. He acknowledges the safety risks associated with the project but reassures users that a licensed professional is engineering the gun. They will also be taking numerous safety precautions before attempting to fire the real-life Grappler.

Tfoust10 is also open to suggestions from users on what other game items he should try to build in real life after the Grappler experiment. Fortnite fans eagerly await the outcome of this project and the possibility of bringing the Grappler back to life outside of the game.
