Epic Temporarily Disables Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle in Fortnite for Stability Investigation

Epic Games Disables Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle in Fortnite: Battle Royale

Epic Games temporarily disabled the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle in Fortnite: Battle Royale for an hour to gather data for a stability issue currently under investigation. The company has not provided specific details about the issue or which platforms or regions it is affecting.

This incident comes a day after the release of the v8.20 update, and there were no changes made to the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle in that update. The last time Epic made any adjustments to the weapon was during season five in July 2018.

Players have not reported many stability issues when using or not using the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle. Since the beginning of March, a few players have complained about poor performance on consoles, which Epic is currently investigating, as stated on their Fortnite Community Issues board.

The company has also faced recent stability problems on mobile devices. They had to disable text chat multiple times on iOS and spent over a week making small adjustments to improve performance for Fortnite players.

The Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle is a unique weapon that allows users to see opponents when scoping. It presents the environment in a blue hue and highlights players as yellow, orange, and red silhouettes, making it easier to spot enemy movement even behind certain structures.

We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
