Epic Games to Host $500,000 Solo Event Simultaneously with Friday Fortnite

The Second Installment of Fortnite Summer Skirmish Offers $500k Solo Tournament

According to esports insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau, the second event in the Fortnite Summer Skirmish series will be a Solo tournament with a prize pool of $500,000. The tournament will take place on Friday, July 20.

Bigger Prize Pool, But Unhappy Organizers

Last week’s opening event in the eight-week Summer Skirmish series was marred by server lag, which led to the $250,000 Duos event being called off early. To make up for it, this week’s event will have a larger prize pool. However, one of the community’s event organizers is not pleased with the timing of the tournament.

Friday Fortnite Gets Pushed to Sunday

YouTuber Daniel “KEEMSTAR” Keem, who has been hosting the weekly Fortnite Duos tournament featuring internet personalities and pro players for the past two and a half months, announced that the Friday Fortnite tournaments will be moved to Sunday. This change was made to accommodate the Summer Skirmish series. However, the final Friday Fortnite tournament will still take place as scheduled.

Unfortunately, Epic’s decision to schedule the Solo tournament on the same day as the final Friday Fortnite tournament has upset KEEMSTAR and other YouTubers.

KEEMSTAR Stands His Ground

In a video, KEEMSTAR expressed his disappointment in Epic’s lack of communication and willingness to work with him. Nonetheless, he confirmed that the final Friday Fortnite tournament will still take place, and many YouTubers have chosen to participate in it rather than the Summer Skirmish tournament.

“You be Epic. I’ll be KEEMSTAR,” he said.

Despite not receiving confirmation from Epic, it is highly likely that the $500,000 Solo tournament will proceed as planned. Fans can expect to watch their favorite players in action this Friday. After receiving criticism for server lag, a lack of observer mode, and a campy format in the first week, Epic will hopefully address these issues in the upcoming tournament.
