Epic Announces Fix for Health per Elimination Bug in Fortnite’s Arena Mode

Epic Games Fixes Bug in Fortnite Competitive Arena Mode

Players in the competitive Arena Mode of Fortnite: Battle Royale recently noticed a change in the siphon mechanic. Instead of receiving the usual 50 total health or shield per kill, they were only getting 25. This change was unexpected and was not mentioned in the v8.30 patch notes.

This bug in the siphon mechanic comes to Arena over two weeks after Epic Games removed it from non-competitive game modes in the v8.20 update. However, other features like increased harvest rate and receiving 50 materials per kill were not affected.

Professional players have been requesting Epic Games to revert the changes made in the v8.20 update and bring back the siphon mechanic to all game modes. They feel that the game has become boring since they spend a significant amount of time harvesting and aggressive plays are easily punished. When Epic Games removed the mechanic, they intended to decrease the power of aggressive plays, and it seems to have achieved that.

This issue with receiving only 25 health per elimination instead of 50 has been fixed by Epic Games. Fortunately, this bug will not affect the Fortnite World Cup Open Qualifiers happening this weekend. The bug was unrelated to the Reboot Vans and the possibility of eliminating more players in Duos matches.
