Epic addresses various Fortnite bugs following the v7.30 update

The Latest Fortnite Update Fixes Bugs and Causes New Issues

The latest update for Fortnite, version 7.30, brought with it over 40 bug fixes across the entire game. However, Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, faced new challenges after the update went live and had to release a version 7.30.1 update to address them.

Loading Screen Freezes Fixed in Battle Royale

One of the most significant issues encountered by players was loading screen freezes in the popular mode, Battle Royale. Initially, the development team at Epic Games believed that this issue was specific to PC players. However, console players also reported experiencing freezes after the version 7.30 update. Epic Games acknowledged this problem and assured players that the loading screen freeze issue has been resolved in the version 7.30.1 patch.

Rollback of Latency Calculation System

Epic Games had to roll back their new system for calculating players’ network latency to the Fortnite servers. Before the version 7.30 update, some players were seeing high ping numbers in their network information, which did not accurately represent their actual connection quality. In version 7.30, Epic Games introduced a new calculation method, but it resulted in strange “Connection Lost” messages and showed zero ping under stable connections. This system has now been removed, and the old calculation method has been restored.

Bug with Chat and Party Services

Even after the release of the version 7.30.1 patch, a bug with chat and party services occurred early in the morning. Epic Games had to temporarily disable the system for maintenance for about an hour to investigate the issue. During this time, players were unable to play in groups. Fortunately, the issue was resolved quickly.

Mobile players also experienced issues with client stability after the release of the Marshmello gear. Epic Games had to release a small patch and temporarily disable the reactive lighting on Marshmello’s gear on iOS until a stable fix is available.

Fortnite fans can expect a smoother gaming experience now compared to the past two days, as most of the disruptive issues have been resolved. Any new bugs or problems are likely to be addressed in the next week’s update, version 7.40, unless they are critical.
