Apex Legends Pro KingRichard Returns to Fortnite in Pursuit of World Cup Qualification

KingRichard Plans to Qualify for Fortnite World Cup

Professional esports player Richard “KingRichard” Nelson has announced that he will be making a return to Fortnite in order to compete in the World Cup Open Qualifiers. KingRichard, who has been focusing on Apex Legends in recent months, expressed confidence in his abilities and stated that he is ready to take on the challenge.

“I decided to attempt Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers,” he wrote. “Hopped on for a bit off stream and I feel like I still got it.”

Professional Player Returns to Fortnite

KingRichard, a member of the NRG esports organization, has been primarily focused on Apex Legends since February. During this time, he has achieved great success, winning multiple championships including the Twitch Rivals and Code Red series. He even secured a second-place finish in the $500,000 Twitchcon Europe Showdown alongside Coby “dizzy” Meadows and Ace.

Although KingRichard has been away from Fortnite for some time, he has previously competed in official online tournaments such as Summer and Fall Skirmish. His best performance was a first-place finish in a Duos competition during the Summer Skirmish, where he partnered with Ghost Gaming’s Dylan “Dmo” Moore.

With only a few weeks remaining for Solo spots and five weeks for Duos spots in the World Cup qualifiers, KingRichard will have ample time to try and secure a qualification spot. It remains to be seen if he will team up with another NRG player for the Duos qualifiers.

If KingRichard successfully qualifies, he will join his NRG teammate benjyfishy, who recently secured a third-place finish in the European Solo Qualifiers Finals. With the addition of the ally respawn mechanic from Apex Legends through Reboot Vans in Fortnite, KingRichard might feel right at home as he pursues a Duos spot. However, his potential partner has yet to be revealed.
