Tetsuya Nomura Revamped Final Fantasy 7 to Ensure Exclusivity

Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura Agreed to Remake Final Fantasy 7

In a recent interview, Tetsuya Nomura from Square Enix revealed that he decided to remake Final Fantasy 7 not only because he felt obligated, but also because he recognized that someone else would do it if he didn’t.

During a conversation with Game Informer on January 8, Nomura explained that there was a growing demand for a Final Fantasy 7 remake leading up to the release of Final Fantasy 13 in 2009. Additionally, Square Enix became more interested in remaking their classic titles. Both Nomura and Final Fantasy series producer Yoshinori Kitase realized that a Final Fantasy 7 remake was inevitable, whether they were involved or not.
