Introducing Songbird: What We Know
Igor Sarzyński, the narrative director of Phantom Liberty, has highlighted Songbird as one of the three most important characters in the expansion.
Songbird, also known as Song So Mi, is described as a talented and mysterious netrunner from the New United States of America (NUSA). She serves as the right-hand woman to NUSA President Rosalind Myers. The story begins when Songbird contacts V for assistance in rescuing Myers, who crash-landed in the chaotic district of Dogtown.
Songbird’s personality is expected to be divisive, forcing players to consider their character’s motivations, actions, and goals. The expansion’s cinematic trailer reveals that seven years prior to the events of Phantom Liberty, Songbird betrayed her partner and mentor, Reed, leaving him for dead inside a train filled with enemy troops.
Following the time skip, Songbird accompanies Myers before their ship is shot down, leading to an intriguing and complex relationship with Reed. These dynamics will play a crucial role in V’s overarching journey to find a cure for their Relic-induced affliction in Phantom Liberty.
