Should you use Skippy’s Stone Cold Killer or Puppy-Loving Pacifist mode in Cyberpunk 2077?

The Unique Weapon in Cyberpunk 2077: Skippy

In Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 offers a plethora of unique weapons for mercenaries. One standout is Skippy, a smart gun with an unconventional onboard AI.

When you come across Skippy in an alley in Heywood, you’ll be presented with two operating modes to choose from: Puppy-Loving Pacifist or Stone Cold Killer. The former aims for an enemy’s extremities, while the latter goes for headshots. However, this choice comes with a twist that becomes evident after several hours of gameplay.

Which Choice is Best for Skippy in Cyberpunk 2077?

Surprisingly, selecting Puppy-Loving Pacifist is actually the better choice. After fifty kills or incapacitations in either mode, Skippy will permanently switch to the mode you didn’t choose. This means pacifists will accumulate a high body count, while assassins will start leaving their targets alive. To maximize combat efficiency, choose Puppy-Loving Pacifist, but be prepared to reach the fifty-kill mark.

It’s worth noting that the game gives no indication of this switch, which can hinder the gun’s usefulness regardless of your playstyle. However, the banter from Skippy adds a touch of humor.

If you prefer, it might be better to stick with one of Cyberpunk 2077’s other Iconic weapons, as there are plenty to choose from. Just remember that you can’t sell or remove Skippy from your inventory until you complete its associated quest, which involves the fifty kills and deciding whether to return it to its owner. Alternatively, you can become a formidable cyber ninja. And if you still desire a talking gun, the Erebus SMG fills that role without any strings attached, other than the slight chance of being corrupted by a rogue AI. Nobody’s perfect!
