How to resolve the screen glitch effect bug in Cyberpunk 2077

Returning Players Facing Screen Glitch Effect in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion

Many players are making a comeback to the popular game Cyberpunk 2077 with the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion. However, some of these returning players are encountering a frustrating screen glitch effect during a specific quest in the main story.

The screen glitch effect mainly occurs during the Automatic Love mission in Cyberpunk 2077. Specifically, after completing the search for Evelyn Parker in the Clouds club, players have to visit a Ripperdoc named Fingers. It is during this visit that the screen glitch effect may appear, making the game almost unplayable.

If you are one of the players experiencing this screen glitch effect and want to fix it in order to fully enjoy Cyberpunk 2077, follow the guide below.

To prevent or fix this glitch, simply avoid choosing a specific dialogue option when talking to Johnny Silverhand.

During the Automatic Love quest in Cyberpunk 2077, players need to visit Fingers, the Ripperdoc located on Jig-Jig Street. This part comes towards the end of the quest, after the objective “Leave Clouds”.

Before actually meeting Fingers, players take an elevator to reach his floor and start experiencing Relic-related issues. During this time, Johnny Silverhand appears and initiates a conversation with the player.

In the midst of this conversation, players are presented with two dialogue options after Johnny says, “Made it pretty clear since that I changed my mind. Want you to live now.” The two options are:

  • Asked you – what the hell do you want?
  • Fucked in the head worse than me.

It is crucial that players do not select the second dialogue option, “Fucked in the head worse than me.” This choice is believed to trigger the screen glitch effect. Instead, choose the first dialogue option to avoid the glitch.

If you have already selected that dialogue option and attempted to proceed with the quest, the only solution is to reload a save that takes you back to a point before taking the elevator to Fingers’ Ripperdoc room. Even if you didn’t manually save before visiting Fingers, Cyberpunk 2077 likely autosaved your progress during the Automatic Love quest.

Simply access your saved games, select the one that brings you closest to the “Leave Clouds” objective, and load that save. From there, follow the quest as usual, wait to speak with Johnny after riding the elevator, and choose the “Asked you – what the hell do you want?” dialogue option.

If you correctly follow these steps, you will successfully avoid the screen glitch effect in Cyberpunk 2077 and can continue the Automatic Love quest.
