How to resolve Cyberpunk 2077 crashes after encountering 2.0 error

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 Crash Fixes

CD Projekt RED has brought new improvements to Cyberpunk 2077 with the 2.0 update. However, this major update has introduced some new errors and bugs, such as random crashes that have been disrupting players’ DLC play sessions. Fixing these crashes has been a challenging task for the developers.

The Cyberpunk 2077 community has been actively sharing various potential solutions for these crashes while awaiting a permanent fix from CDPR. If none of the fixes mentioned below work for you, it’s best to wait for the hotfix from CDPR since crashes tend to reoccur at the moment.

1) Reinstall Cyberpunk 2077 to a New Drive

The 2.0 update seems to have compatibility issues with older versions of Cyberpunk 2077. If you’re experiencing crashes after the update, it is recommended to reinstall the game on a new drive. Starting fresh in a new directory ensures that there are no old files causing the crashes.

2) Delete Old Cyberpunk 2077 Folders

If reinstalling the game on a new drive is not possible, you can try deleting old files from the installation directory. Go to “SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64” and delete all the files from 2020 along with the plugin folder. If the crashes continue, you can delete all 2020 files from the same directory as a last resort.

3) Downgrade Your GPU Driver

If you frequently update your graphics driver and are currently using the latest version, consider downgrading it. Some players reported that downgrading to a previous and more stable version of their GPU drivers helped fix the crashing issue after the 2.0 update. Uninstall your current GPU drivers and reinstall the older version. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) can be used to ensure a clean uninstallation.

4) Disable Your Second GPU

If your system has two GPUs, try disabling one of them before running Cyberpunk 2077 again. Having both GPUs enabled can sometimes cause the game to crash due to excessive power consumption.

In addition to the random crashes, some players have also encountered the REDScript Compilation error in Cyberpunk 2077, which is another issue related to the game’s files. Despite these bugs and errors, fans believe that the 2.0 changes have finally made the game feel complete. So once the crashes are resolved, it will be a great time to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077.
