The Chimera Boss Battle in Phantom Liberty: A Guide
The Chimera 0005-C M, known as the Chimera, is the first major boss battle in the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. In this battle, Songbird initially hacks into the Chimera to help you, but things go awry as the Chimera turns on you and President Meyers. An epic chase sequence ensues as the Chimera pursues you and Meyers through the underground depths of Dogtown.
How Difficult is the Chimera Boss Battle?
If you have an existing character in Cyberpunk 2077, the Chimera boss battle may not be too challenging. However, if you started a new game and are playing the DLC, it can be your first major fight. The difficulty of the battle also depends on the difficulty level you’re playing on. Make sure you have health boosters and powerful weapons equipped before starting the fight.
How to Beat the Chimera in Phantom Liberty
The Chimera has multiple weak spots, which are highlighted in orange. You can use smart weapons to easily hit these weak spots. Additionally, targeting the limbs of the Chimera, especially the joints, can cause significant damage. The battle consists of several stages:
Stage One: Dodging the Homing Missiles
During the first stage, the Chimera will launch homing missile/mortar projectiles. When you see the red circles indicating the missile targets, quickly dodge out of the way to avoid the wide explosion radius.
Stage Two: Dodging the Lasers
In the second stage, the Chimera will use lasers to attack you. The lasers sweep in a semi-circle, switching between lower and higher heights. You must jump over the low lasers and duck under the high lasers to avoid getting hit.
Stage Three: Defeating the Repair Drones
After successfully dodging the missiles and lasers, the Chimera will summon a group of drones, including repair drones that restore its health. Target and destroy the repair drones while fending off the attack drones to prevent the Chimera from healing too much.
Stage Four: Avoiding the Poison Gas
As the battle progresses, poisonous gas will start to spread. Get to higher ground as quickly as possible to avoid inhaling the gas, as it rapidly drains your health. Use stairs or climbable surfaces to reach the upper level.
Stage Five: Removing the Chimera’s Core
From the upper level, continue attacking the Chimera’s weak spots while avoiding its attacks. When its health is nearly depleted, you’ll receive a prompt to climb onto the Chimera and finish the fight. Look for a hatch and rip it off to grab the Chimera’s core.
Taking the Chimera’s Core (Optional)
After defeating the Chimera, you have the option to take its core. It’s unclear if this choice affects the DLC further, but you can find the core on the floor near President Meyers.
