Explaining All the Slang Terms in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 has a very detailed world and unique slang. If you’re from the 1970s, you’d be confused by today’s slang, let alone Cyberpunk‘s future slang.

The writers of Cyberpunk did a great job of immersing players in the unfamiliar slang. But if you want to catch up quickly or missed important moments, here are all the slang terms used in Cyberpunk and what they mean.

What does the slang in Cyberpunk 2077 mean?

Don’t worry, after reading this list, you’ll understand Cyberpunk lingo and never sound clueless again. From now on, you’ll be totally up to date.

Here are all the slang terms used in Cyberpunk and their meanings:

  • Braindance (BD): A recorded memory that can be experienced using all five senses, like VR.
  • Choom/Choomba: Buddy, bro, dude, or friend. A common slang term in Cyberpunk.
  • Chrome: Cyberware. “Chromed out” means having a lot of cyberware implants.
  • Delta: Leave, but mostly used in dire situations, like leaving a party when the cops show up.
  • Eddy/eddies: Money. Short for Eurodollars, the currency in Cyberpunk.
  • Flatlined: Dead.
  • Gonk: Idiot. Not a friendly term.
  • Nova: Great, awesome, stellar. Similar to “dope” in modern slang.
  • Preem: Top-notch. Used as an adjective.
  • Screamsheet: Newspaper.
  • Scroll/Scrolling: Recording a braindance. The person who “scrolled a BD” owns the memory.
  • Virtu: An unedited braindance, like the “director’s cut”.
  • Zero: Murder. Not just killing, but intentional murder.

These are the most common slang terms you’ll hear in Cyberpunk that have no similarity to real-world slang.
