Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Enjoys Success and Wins Multiple Anime Awards
The anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been a hit on Netflix since it debuted. The show quickly rose to the top of the Netflix charts when it was released in 2022, even boosting the player count of the game Cyberpunk 2077.
Not only has the series been popular among viewers, but it has also received recognition in the form of awards. At the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners took home multiple accolades, including Anime of the Year and Best English Voice Actor Performance. This came as a surprise to many, as it beat out fan-favorite series like Demon Slayer and Spy x Family. The award for Best English Voice Actor Performance went to Zach Aguilar, who played the protagonist David Martinez.
While fans may hope for a sequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, it was always intended to be a standalone anime. The future of the Cyberpunk universe remains uncertain until CD Projekt Red announces its plans.
