CD Projekt Red Focuses Half of Its Team on The Witcher 4, Shifting Manpower from Cyberpunk

CD Projekt Red Reveals Development Details for The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red recently released its earnings report for Q3 2023, confirming that almost half of its development team is currently working on the highly anticipated game, codenamed Polaris, which is none other than The Witcher 4. The game has been in production since at least 2022 and is now entering full development.

According to IGN, around 330 developers are actively working on The Witcher 4, which accounts for almost half of CD Projekt Red’s development team. This shift in focus comes as CD Projekt Red moves away from Cyberpunk 2077 after the release of Phantom Liberty. It has been a successful year for the company as it continues to redeem its name following the troubled launch of the futuristic RPG.

According to PCGamer, CD Projekt Red’s CEO Adam Kiciński mentioned during an earnings call that the core development team is steadily growing. “The team has reached almost 330 developers and is expected to exceed 400 by mid next year.” The same call also confirmed that several hundred developers are working on the Cyberpunk sequel, which is already in the early stages of production.

The last update we had on The Witcher 4, when it was still known as Project Polaris, was in May 2022 during the pre-production stage. CD Projekt Red also shared details on other potential projects, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. It’s exciting to finally have concrete information and know that the game is actively being developed.

Alongside The Witcher remake and other planned projects, CD Projekt Red is set to offer fans an exciting journey. As a fan myself, I couldn’t be happier.
